Retailer Large Handmade Vintage Wood Caddy

This is an old wooden Asian rice storage container (that could possibly be older than the 1920s) as it looks more antique to me rather than vintage, but from my research this is what most estimate their ages to be. These were used to store rice until use. It is made out of solid wood and it looks like someone might have oiled it at some point. As you can see the handle is flush with the box so more of these could be stacked without the handles being in the way. This old wooden carrier has really great character! The wood is a darker brown with some even darker pieces. The corners are dovetailed and there are also round and square nails used to hold it together, along with some aged brass, such as on one part of the inner handle at the end. There are also bent metal plates around each corner to reinforce which have deteriorated a bit. Most of the metal used to hold this box together is bent and worn. There are some minor wood splits but nothing that affects its sturdiness. The wood is pretty smooth to the touch. There are your typical minor surface scratches all around this box from use and time. There are some small areas where it looks like white paint retailer got in this both on the underside and a couple tiny areas around the sides, nothing major though. The wood selected for the sides is not perfect, or even perfectly squared, and you can see this best in the first photo. The overall box is not perfectly square. This is a handmade box from back in the day but it is in really good condition for approaching (or over) 100 years old! There is some dust in the corners so it could stand for a better cleaning than the one I gave it. Please view all photos closely as they really are the best part of the description.

This would work really well to hold a number of things, such as being used as a decorative piece to hold your favorite linens, or any other collection you can think of because it really is large! This carrier is very sturdy and built strong to be long-lasting!
