Description

Product Name: Francoise Montague - retailer Iconic Parisian Couture Anemone shaped earrings

These outstanding earrings feature combination of polished metal gold and silver tone rounded petals and milky white pate de verre bead centre.  The anemone flower is a recurring subject of Francoise Montague jewellery, particularly retailer its Cilea line.

Background:
Francoise Montague took over the De Saurma jewellery workshop in 1945 as stated in the "Costume Jewelry for Haute Couture" by Florence Muller. After Montague took over, her most important clients were Nina Ricci and Franck & Fils.   Early jewelry by Montague, according to Muller, “is recognizable in the abundant use of enamel and iridescent glass beads." However, these pieces are unmarked as majority of their jewellery and are often difficult to identify. Montague continued to work the business through the 1950s and '60s, earning accolades, including the Grand Prix des Creations de Bijouterie Fantaisie in 1961 and maintaining a loyal clientele.  Marion Stern took over the business in 1978 and still oversees the Francoise Montague workshop in Paris.

The distinct feature of Francoise Montague Paris is classic aesthetic, which combines the  traditional look and Parisian chic.  Francoise Montague is one of a few remaining jewellery ateliers in Paris keeping the art of haute couture jewellery thriving.

Great condition.  The diameter is about 3.5 cm.  The haute couture house Francoise  Montague did not sign their earrings but they almost always used a specific backing of concentric circular groves to their clip earrings, as seen in this pair. The anemone shape floral shape is the iconic design of Francoise Montague, particularly its Cilea line.
