Founder in the forties of the Forma 1 Group (group of Italian artists who created the "formalist manifesto", convinced that the terms Marxism and formalism are not irreconcilable; supporters of a structured but unrealistic art, which gives importance to form and sign in their essential basic meaning, eliminating in their works any symbolist or psychological claim.) Turcato was one of the greatest exponents of Italian informal abstractionism basing all his production on color.
