Vent Grate or retailer Radiator Grate, Large Rectangular Aesthetic Movement Cast Iron Architectural Salvage

Look at the detail on this fantastic old metal radiator or vent cover. This design is quite hard to find, as it was made during retailer a limited period of the 1870s to probably around 1890, and the design was heavily influenced by the Aesthetic Movement. Made of solid metal, this grate has developed a lovely patina. The metal is in good condition, with no repairs, no welds, and just one corner broken off. The five louvers on the back open and close, and the lever can still be moved to open and close the louvers, and it would benefit from a good cleaning and lubrication. A little of the glossy black paint is flaking, and there is superficial rust and some paint discoloration. The 4 mounting screws appear original. Use this as a vent grate or just mount this on a wall and admire the texture and contrasting details! It measures about 11 5/8" by about 9 5/8" and about 2" deep. If you intend to use this as a vent grate, you'll need an opening about 9 13/16" by 8. 7/8". It weighs almost 7 pounds.
