Iconography ,the word comes from the word icon and graphy. Icon means image and graphy means writing

down.Bloomed during the Byzantine years.Its a religious form of art.I have painted this icon of Virgin Mary on a dry board of

natural wood (31cm-16cm) ,where several layers of gesso have

been applied (according to the old recipe).
Instead of using gold leaves to fill the hallo of the icon that resembles God`s light I used paint.

Then the painting begins. I use egg emulsion to liquidate the pigments as in the old days.The protein of the egg has the
capacity to blend with the pigments and to create a really firm surface as time goes by.Even so, two layers of varnish are

applied on the icon to ensure it`s longevity.A beautiful gift for a wedding ,anniversaries.I have great respect and love for each
