James Sowerby was one of the most famous and prolific illustrators of the late 18th and early 19th centuries. His work was published in many of the publications of his time. Such publications include Curtis Botanical Magazine, Curtis Flora Londinensis & William Baxter's British flowering Plants as well as his own famous books, English Botany, in conjunction with Sir James Edward Smith.
The plates I am listing were published in 1844. They are all original hand colored engravings.
The plate impressions are clearly visible. All plates have toning throughout. With some foxing spots which will be noted. All plates were printed on woven paper. The paper color is generally a light creamy yellow, as is typical for plates this age.
