Rockhounding is a passion! I found this Hyalite Opal on an arduous Montana hike. 7+ miles each way. Dawn to dusk! 30+ lbs on the way out. Silly me! Hyalite opal is an amazing stone. I have left this Hyalite as close to its original form as possible. It is on a basalt matrix. I only cut off some of the matrix and did nothing to the natural hyalite. This stone fluoresces bright green under a **shortwave** retailer UV light. In natural sun light you will see rainbow colors bounce around in the bubbles of the stone.
