Celebration | Chinese retailer Ink Brush | Watercolor Painting

This painting captures the marvels of nature along the Niagara River in Ontario, Canada, where I have lived for over forty years. I am an oil painter at heart, but when I am moved by the joyful spirit of birds frolicking in the thistles, I make watercolor paintings as mementoes of the feelings I experience on my walks in nature. They are done in the Chinese literati painting style, which uses simple retailer ink brush strokes on rice paper to convey spontaneity and expression.

Originally from Canton, China, I trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. My paintings thus fuse classical Chinese art forms with Western painting techniques. I started my career as a portrait artist in Hong Kong before emigrating to Canada, where I continue to develop my eye for natural forms.
