Another Unique, Stunning, Magnificent, and Finely Crafted pen turned in the Spurlin Woodworking Wood Studio.

It is carefully turned on my lathe to a pleasing shape that feels comfortable and looks great.

Every pen is unique, no two will ever be exactly alike since they are handcrafted works of art.

My Process:
My pens are constructed by hand selecting each piece and then cutting, drilling and turning the pen to its final shape on my lathe. The pen is then sanded with progressively finer grits (120, 180, 240, 320, 400, 600) of sandpaper, to achieve a very smooth surface and for a smooth transition with the metallic pen parts. Wood pens then have 6-8 coats of finish applied and the pen is sanded again with micro mesh up to 12,000 grits to a high shine or satin finish. Resin pens are sanded with micro mesh to 12,000 grits for a high shine and then both wood and resin pens have a polish applied and finally are buffed on a buffing wheel with jewelers rouge to give it a long lasting shine
