Retailer Fabric Collage Art

Tattered quilts that have outlived their usefulness are repurposed as backgrounds for these fabric collage art pieces. A “painting” blossoms with the addition of images cut from fabrics - vintage and new - that are hand stitched with embroidery floss to these beautiful, sometimes colorful, sometimes elaborately stitched quilts. Each is unique. Imperfections of background and stitching are common and the retailer edges are sometimes visible within the case. Basic black cases/frames protect each piece and they are ready to hang.

S11.RED is created on a patchwork quilt with every other square being in a red fabric. Before beginning collage, the pieces are backed by a cotton fabric attached to the piece by rows of zig-zag stitching, strengthening and filling in where there are disintegrating fabric pieces. 12 x 12. This work will be mailed in a rear-loaded protective acrylic and glass case which may be used as a frame.
