Vintage Guatemalan Folk retailer Dolls

Four hand-made dolls from Guatemala. All women carry babies. All dolls are made locally dressed in local woven fabrics. Mouth, eyes, eyebrows are stitched. Bodies, legs, and arms are cloth covered light wood or rolled paper. Baskets/fans are woven straw. Head dresses are finely crafted yarn.

My mother, Ruth, traveled the world, starting in Central & South America Her love was local retailer folk art. The three
Guatemalan female dolls she bought in the 1950s as she began her travels. The male doll is marked "Karavan-New York Made in Guatemala" and must have been added to fill-out the grouping.
