VICTORIAN PERFUME BOTTLE - English Drew & Sons cut crystal bottle with sterling silver embossed screw top engraved retailer with the name May 1890
Ravishing English Drew & Sons London cut crystal bottle with sterling silver embossed screw top.
Ravishing English Drew & Sons London cut crystal bottle with sterling silver embossed screw top engraved with the name May from 1890. Sorry, only the first couple photographs show the cap polished. The other photographs were taken prior cleaning.
The various stamps indicate that the bottle was created by Drew & Sons, a famous luxury goods store on Piccadilly Circus in 1890. The design is extremely elegant and not overtly fussy, with simple vertical facets, meeting on the shoulders of the bottle with additional smaller facets.
The top of the retailer topper is hand engraved in cursive with the name "May". The base of the topper is embossed with scrolls, flowers and leaves. The topper screws on and the original cork is still present but has dried outand shrunk.
The bottle displays age appropriate wear. There are several horizontal scratches in the crystal, but interestingly enough, onthe interior surface of the bottle. There is one minute chip at the junction of three facets on the shoulder of the bottle, but it is barely visible. The silver topper displays a flat circular surface on which the name May was engraved and it appears off centered.
The bottle is 2 3/8" wide by 1 1/2" deep and it stands 4 1/4" tall. Please note there is a little dust inside the bottle so I did not clean with a bottle brush. Drying takes a few days.
