RARE Ian Maclaren Beside the Bonnie Brier Bush 1895 HC & The Days of Auld retailer Lang Snye 1896 HC 1st edition Hardcover Books Green Cloth Gold

From an estate sale comes this wonderful & rare set of Ian Maclarens popular Scottish story books from the 1800's.

This coordinating set is hardcover with light green retailer cloth & darker green border, with shamrock center & gold gilt titles.

Both are first edition books, copyright 1894 & 1895.

The stories in the books recount some of MacLaren's experiences in rural Perthshire and blends humor and pathos with racy Scots dialogue.

CONDITION: Upon inspection as best I can see. (Zoom into pics to view better)

Book Covers: Both show cloth wear with Auld Lang Syne having more. Darkened binding & spotting from age & use on both. Some curving on corners, & upper edge also of the Auld Book. 8th picture show it.

Pages & binding are in tight condition, with the Bonnie being loose at back page, & torn a little on first paper page at the front. So a little loose on back, but pages all together. (see last 2 pictures)
Inside of both books, pages have darkened or yellowed from age. Pencil marks on upper edge of first page on both books. Well worn & read books from the 1800's. Feel good to hold in your hand..just something about an old book. Oh, if we just knew all those who may of read them!
Bought at an estate sell...sold as is. Ready for a new home!
