This is a stunning primitive antique French jam / jelly pot from the French manufacture of Creil & Montereau, near Paris. Beautiful example of antique French creamware/antique ironstone

This typical conical chunky ceramic jam pot or jar dates from the early retailer 1800's. It carries the very old mark of the maker, Creil & Montereau, and a crown, see photos. Please, note the elegant "gutter" around the top opening, that was intended to hold tight the sheet of oiled paper to cover it and tying a string.

It carries the prooves of a long busy life, with delicious tones of tea staining and hues of beige, cream, café au lait brown, and a hairline as shown. Also it may show some irregularities in the glaze and firing defects that add a lot to the vintage country charm.
