Product Name: Sterling retailer silver leverbacks with vintage strass disco balls earrings

retailer Fun earrings with round "strass" crystal disco balls hanging from a Sterling silver chain and S. silver leverbacks. "Strass" (rhinestones) is named after Georges-Frédéric Strass (1701-1773) who was born at Wolfsheim, near Strasbourg, where he learned to make jewelry and artificial gems; he moved to Paris in 1724, and there invented, from 1730 to 1734, new techniques for making imitation precious stones (imitation diamonds having been known in Paris in the 17th century). The laws of the light were discovered in 10th centuries (actually rediscovered in 17th century) and it took centuries to apply it to glass to make it seem like a diamond (talking about rhinestone jewellery of course).
I found these totally fantastic disco balls in San Francisco in the 1980s, in a small second hand boutique on Union Street. They are original vintage pieces, pulled from a necklace that had fake pearls as well, a look that makes me think that those are from the 1960s or even earlier.
