Handknitted Fair Isle Sleeveless retailer Cardigan

This garment was knitted by me in 2014 and worn only once because of its size. It measures 48" at the underarm with an retailer 8" armhole to shoulder length, and a 23" overall length. It would be suitable for a man or woman. The yarn used is Shetland Spindrift from Jamieson's with a couple of colors from Jamieson & Smith 2 ply jumper weight. The yarns are of course interchangeable. The buttons are of a Celtic design.

Since it is 100% wool, the sweater should be washed by hand in tepid water using a fine woolen soap such as Eucalan. It should then be laid flat to dry, and pinned to measure if necessary to stretch it. Each washing enhances the" bloom" of the yarn.

Fair Isle knits are known for their sometimes innovative combination of colors and use of many traditional designs. They are a joy to wear, and a sure subject of compliments from friends.
