Imagine floating into a garden party in this nearly weightless dress. You'd stay cool all day, and turn some heads as you move about the grounds. Perfect for a summer night date or a wedding. Romantic and lovely soft cotton frock from the late 1940's. Delicate spring retailer green print with tucking and lace embellishment on the bodice and a narrow self-belt.
The size is small, probably about a 6 in today's sizing, possibly an 8. Full floaty skirt. Soft almost cap sleeves, not set-in, but drop type. Fitted bodice with darts in front and in back. Lace on the neckline, the sleeves, the front bodice and around skirt. Handmade 75+ years ago by a good home seamstress. I've had it since the 70's but it's been unworn (except for the photos) and stored for at least 45 years.
Dimensions: waist 26", waist to hem 29.5", shoulder to waist 16.5", sleeve circumference 13", shoulder width 16", belt 1/2" X 30.5" with 3 metal holes, skirt circumference 80".
Minor flaws: 2 small and 1 larger hole clustered in the back of the skirt toward the bottom. See the photo. Also, very minor fraying on the back neck edge. The flaws are not unexepected considering how long this cotton treasure has survived! If you buy this dress, and you want it repaired before I ship, I will do it by hand. Allow another week for the repair.
