Antique Vintage Art Nouveau or Art Deco Multicolor Round Glass Cabochons Brass Linked Choker Necklace.
The antique round glass cabochons set in brass metal link choker necklace is so unusual- I am not sure what time period it's from- it could be anywhere from 1900's to 1930's, so necklace is being sold as Vintage, age unknown. The choker necklace has a Art Deco feel, with Art Nouveau colors and craftsmanship, and it's unmarked as far as I can see. It does have an Egyptian Revival feel to it, so I would estimate it was as made in the 1910-1920's. I have searched online selling sites and I can't find another necklace like it; the only thing even slightly close was a Art Deco Givenchy brand necklace with “poured glass” cabochons.
This necklace may have been a custom-made choker necklace. The choker necklace measures retailer approximately 15 1/4 inches long (you can always add an extender). The glass cabochons are raised round domes- and they look like bubbles set in round brass settings. The domed glass cabochons are very reflective and remind me of moonstones. There are two small glass cabochons set on an oval brass link and one larger glass cabochon set on brass connector links in between the oval links. The glass colors range from pale peach, rose, light green, aqua- and the cabochons look different in different light sources. NOTICE: There is one small glass cabochon missing- it is in the second oval link from the clasp (see pictures). While the necklace is not in perfect condition- the necklace can still be worn confidently as the missing cabochon is in the back of the choker necklace. There is some green oxidation around most of the glass cabochons. I cleaned most of the oxidation off, but there is still some remaining if you look with magnification, but I didn't want to risk damaging the necklace. I took the necklace to a professional jeweler who told me the necklace links metal is brass.
