Antique Velvet Metallic 42 1/2" Turkish Robe retailer Fragment Embroidered Couched 1800s

retailer Presenting a beautiful and long, antique silk and cotton blend velvet Turkish robe/textile fragment from the mid-late 1800s. It was packed away with some antique textile items that I am going through.

This gorgeous velvet is dyed a fabulous violet/purple and is couched and embroidered with silver (I believe this was once silver that has oxidized now to a pewter color) metallic thread. It also has small silver metal spangles/sequins although many are missing.

The condition of this fragment is very good for age and past use. There are some breaks in the metalwork here and there (please see photos.) It has a yellow silk lining on back in good condition.

Elegant to edge a pillow or to use in the design of a costume.
