Vintage Vulture Wooden Mask is hand-carved and hand-painted by Mayan Artisans. This is one retailer art piece of a large personal collection which was purchased and imported from the Guatemalan market town of Chichicastenango in the 1980s.
The hand making of masks, used by dancers in traditional ceremonies, have made this city well known for wood carving.

In Maya mythology, the Vulture is symbolic of clearing away old Karma and re-birthing new ways of thinking. Vultures are regarded as teachers and the guardians of ancient knowledge.
