Large and unique hand-painted porcelain pillow vase produced by the Gerold Porzellanfabrik of West Germany. Circa 1950's - 1960's.

Completely hand-painted on both sides, by artist Nina Wagner, with images of Japanese women executed in the Japanese Woodblock print style (look like the images could be after Utamaro 1753-1806).

Signed by the artist on the front under the image "Nina Wagner" hand-painted in script.

The vase is also signed with the green mark used after 1949 by Gerold Porcelain:

This is a large and fine example by one of the company's best decorators. The brushwork is very detailed and colors are beautiful with the rich gold backgrounds highlighting the designs. There is a good website with information regarding the company and it's artistic porcelain wares which can easily be found with a search for "Gerold Porzellan".
