These Mexican fire opal "Broken Circle" earrings are forged from sterling silver. Open and delicate, the 18 g. (1.024 mm) wire supports a faceted 6 x 4 mm octagon Mexican fire opal as well as 2 mm yellow sapphire and hessonite garnet faceted gems. They dangle from sterling silver earwires.

Circles are one of the simplest design elements. They usually represent wholeness, unity and completion. Breaking the line of a circle is a destabilizing action and introduces an element of asymmetry to an otherwise complete symbol. In astronomy this is usually seen in the course of eclipses when one celestial body occults another.
